Equation for Molality Calculations

The definition of molality:

"The molality of a component in a solution is the number of moles of that component associated with one kilogram of the SOLVENT."

leads to the following equation:

Molality =                Number of Moles
Mass of SOLVENT (in kilograms)

You need to be able to calculate all three parts of this equation if you know two of the others ie you need to be able to calculate:

  1. the molality
  2. the number of moles present
  3. the mass of solvent used
