Section 2 - Dilution and Concentration of Solids

You need to be able to do calculations involving the dilution and concentration of solids. Some of the questions will be similar to those for the dilution of liquids.

"If 20 grams of a cream containing 5 % w/w Coal Tar is mixed with 80 grams of Yellow Soft Paraffin, what is the new concentration % w/w of Coal Tar in the cream?"

However, there are many different types of question and each will need a slightly different method to solve it. You should be able to work out a solution to a question by using the definitions of the different ways to express concentration and by remembering that MASSES ARE ADDITIVE.
