Objectives

After completing this activity, you should be able to:

1. state an equation which is useful when doing dilution concentrations
2. do dilution calculations involving 96% Ethanol BP
3. do dilution calculations involving other stock solutions
4. describe the difference between Formaldehyde Solution BP (also known as Formalin) and solutions of formaldehyde
5. describe the differences in calculations when doing dilutions of Formaldehyde Solution BP and when doing dilutions of formaldehyde.

Prerequisites

You need to know the following: the basic units of mass and volume; concentrations expressed as percent weight in weight, weight in volume, and volume in volume and also parts components.
You will probably need a calculator.
