On the following page, you can change the elimination rate constant and plot results to see how changes in the elimination rate constant affect what happens to the plasma drug concentration of a drug over time.
Assumptions: Dose fixed at 1000 mg. Volume of distribution fixed at 10 litres.
You need to:
Select whether to plot the results on a linear scale or semilog scale. The scale is preset to linear. (You can change between the two at any time: all current results will be replotted on the new scale.)
Adjust the elimination rate constant (k).
Adjust the x-axis and y-axis scales if required. (These can be adjusted at any time: all current results will be replotted on the new axes.)
Plot the results - up to a maximum of six plots. (Example observations will be available after the sixth plot.)
You can reset the simulation at any time: the simulation will return to the initial preset values.
