Agonists: Comparing Dose-Response Curves

Shift Along The X-Axis

One explanation for what causes the dose-response curve of agonists to shift along the x-axis is their variation in affinity.

As the affinity of an agonist decreases, a higher concentration of that agonist is needed to produce 50% of the agonist's maximum response.

As affinity decreases, the dose-response curve therefore moves to the right.
