Agonists: Comparing Dose-Response Curves

Full And Partial Agonists

Efficacy (not intrinsic efficacy) can take a value of between 0 and 1.

A full agonist can evoke the maximum response possible for the tissue and it has an efficacy of 1.

An agonist which evokes a maximum response which is less than the maximum response for that tissue is called a partial agonist. Partial agonists have an efficacy of less than 1.
