In a real experiment, accurate and reproducible measurement of responses depends on, among other factors:
- Careful attention to the time the drug is left in contact with the tissue
- The time between doses
- The time needed for washing the tissue between doses by draining the Tyrode from the organ bath and replacing it with fresh Tyrode's prewarmed to 37oC
- The solutions used
In the simulation you will use, the drug is automatically left in contact with the tissue for 30 seconds. Also, the time between doses is not critical, since it is assumed that between doses the tissue has been adequately washed.
In experiments using antagonists, it is also assumed that the tissue is adequately washed between doses.
