Antagonists: Receptors

Introduction To Example

In the next few screens, you will go through an example which looks at the following drugs:
  • The three agonists: acetylcholine, carbachol and histamine
  • The two antagonists: mepyramine and atropine

You are shown the six sets of dose-response curves that are produced when dose-response curves for each of the combinations of agonist and antagonist are constructed.

You will then go through what to look for in the results. First, you will consider each of the sets of curves and see what you can work out about each of the agonists and antagonists. Then you will compare the sets of curves with each other.
