Parts Components

So far, you have seen that parts components are expressed as:
"1 part of the component in X of the product."
However, there are other phrases which mean the same thing:

Sometimes, the statement of concentration omits the word "part".

"The solution has a concentration of 1 in 10 Sodium Hydroxide."

This means the same as:
"The solution has a concentration of 1 part
Sodium Hydroxide in 10 parts of solution".

Solutions are sometimes diluted:

"A solution is diluted 1 part in 7"
"A solution is diluted 1 TO 7"

Both of these indicate that the solution is diluted so that
there is 1 part of the old solution in 7 parts of the new solution.
