Objectives

After finishing this activity, you should be able to:

1. define the following terminology: equivalent, gram equivalent, milliequivalent, equivalence, milliequivalence, normality
2. do calculations in which the concentration is expressed in the above terminology, including calculating:
   1. the concentration of a solution
   2. how much of a solution of known concentration is needed to supply a specified amount of the chemical
   3. how much of a chemical is needed to make a solution of specified concentration.

Prerequisites

For this activity you will need to know the relationship between moles, mass and RMM and what valency means. You will probably need a calculator.
