Units of Temperature
Two units are used for temperature, degrees Centigrade and Kelvin. You need to be able to convert between the two units. To find out how to do the conversions you need to know the one fact below:
You can see conversions between Kelvin and Centigrade by clicking on the buttons below.
Kelvin measurements are ALWAYS HIGHER than Centrigrade measurements - by 273.
Conversion from Centigrade to Kelvin
Convert - 35 °C to Kelvin.
Kelvin is always HIGHER than the Centigrade measurement.
Thus:
ADD 273 to the Centigrade measurement.
- 35 °C = 238 K
Conversion from Kelvin to Centigrade
Convert 297 K to degrees Centrigrade.
Centigrade is always LESS than Kelvin.
Thus:
SUBTRACT 273 from the Kelvin measurement.
297 K = 24 °C
Kelvin and Centigrade
Kelvin is ALWAYS HIGHER than Centigrade - by 273.
Kelvin can not be a minus number.
